Our firm was selected to lead the development of a comprehensive 5-Year Landscaping Master Plan for the historic Togus VA Medical Center campus in Augusta, Maine. The project focuses on enhancing the visual quality and functionality of the campus landscape while honoring its historic character and therapeutic legacy dating back over 160 years.
The master plan includes a thorough assessment of the existing site conditions, including a complete tree inventory and analysis of the campus forest resources. Proposed improvements include the strategic addition of new trees, understory, and groundcover plantings, along with recommendations for selective mitigation and removal. Key areas of focus include major entry points, building entrances, and wayfinding elements to enhance campus navigation and curb appeal.
Our scope of work encompasses landscape architecture and master planning, supported by environmental planning, civil engineering, survey work, and cost estimation. The naturalized native landscapes on campus will remain undisturbed, in keeping with the site’s pastoral and historically significant setting, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
