“THE CALLING” is a homage to the fine peoples that decide to dedicate their lives in the pursuit of making a meaningful impact on the communities that they serve in. This story is told in a linear fashion as you move from west to east across the entire site. Two paths are laid out through wayfinding signage dedicated to fire and police. Signage provides a glimpse into what it means to serve. A third path emerges that combines both the fire and police. This path cuts downward into the ground mirroring the trials that must be overcome in a career. The path opens up and abruptly stops at “The Last Call”, a memorial to honor those who have served. However, line of sight keeps the viewer moving east, towards the  journey’s end to reflect and celebrate a lifetime of work and achievement.
