WERK | urban design is collaborating with the Y2K Team on the US 60 Shared Use Path project, focusing on pathway alignment and landscape design through the existing Harmony Park and several smaller basin parks. WERK is helping shape a low-impact, cost-effective landscape plan that balances function and placemaking. Enhancements include prefabricated fencing, community murals on residential walls, and sandblasted concrete markings to enrich the user experience without significantly increasing costs.
Design strategies emphasize sustainability, safety, and connectivity. Overhead lighting will match existing Mesa standards while minimizing light trespass. Where the path intersects parks, mature trees will be preserved by shifting the alignment inward, allowing for stormwater features like swales. Unified wayfinding signage will connect the path to Mesa’s broader active transportation network, reinforcing its role in the regional system.
